Firewood Processors & Wood Splitters
Range Road firewood processors and log splitters, stocked and demonstrated in Mannville, Alberta. If you are cutting more than a few cord a year, a processor replaces the saw, the splitter and most of the lifting in one machine. Come and run one before you buy — we would rather you saw it work than took our word for it.

Which processor suits the wood you are cutting
The number that matters is not horsepower, it is how big a log the saw will take and how fast the ram cycles. The EcoPro200 handles 16" logs on a 15 HP Rato with an 8.5 second cycle, and ships with the RR2506 conveyor. The EcoPro300 takes the same 16" capacity but runs a 14 HP Kohler, a 20 ton ram and a 7 second cycle, with the RR2503 conveyor included. The EcoPro350 is the same family with more reach.
For most acreages and small firewood businesses the 300 is the machine that pays for itself. The 200 suits someone heating their own house and selling a little. The ComPro650, with a 999cc engine, a 27 ton ram and a 20" capacity, is for a yard producing volume every day of the season.
A log splitter alone makes sense if you already fell and buck your own wood and only need the splitting done. Range Road splitters run from the 12 ton RR120 up to the 40 ton RR144, horizontal or vertical.
Cycle time is what you actually feel
Cycle time is how long the ram takes to push through a round and return. Seven seconds against nine does not sound like much until you have done it four hundred times in an afternoon — that is twenty minutes of standing still, per cord.
Kinetic splitters like the RR130 get down to three seconds because a flywheel stores the energy and dumps it in one go. They are the fastest thing in the range on clean straight wood. Knotty, frozen or stringy rounds still favour a hydraulic ram, which will push through what a kinetic machine bounces off.
Conveyors, log tables and what you need on day one
A processor without somewhere to put the wood is only half a system. The conveyor is what gets split wood into a truck or a trailer instead of onto the ground and then into your back. The EcoPro200 and 300 include one; check the model before you assume.
A log table or live deck feeds the saw without you lifting every round onto the bed. The RR102 with hydraulic infeed takes 58" to 70" width. It is the single accessory that most changes how tired you are at the end of a day.
Common questions
- How much firewood can a processor actually produce in a day?
- Output depends far more on how the wood is presented than on the machine. With a log table feeding it and a conveyor taking wood away, a one-person operation on an EcoPro300 is working steadily rather than wrestling rounds. Without those two things the same machine spends most of its day waiting for you.
- Do I need a tractor to run a firewood processor?
- No. The Range Road EcoPro and ComPro processors have their own engines — Rato or Kohler depending on the model — so they run standalone. That is the difference between these and a three-point hitch processor, which needs a tractor and its PTO.
- Can I see one running before I buy?
- Yes, and we would prefer it. The machines are in the yard in Mannville and Tim will run one for you. Book a demo or call 780-853-0056.
- What does delivery cost?
- Delivery to our depots across Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba is free. Anywhere else is quoted per machine and per destination before you commit — freight on a processor to northern BC is not the same as one going to Vegreville.
