Common questions
- Towable, three-point, or skid steer mount?
- Towable chippers have their own engine and go wherever a vehicle can pull them, which suits acreage cleanup and anyone without a tractor. Three-point hitch models run off a tractor PTO and cost less because there is no engine. Skid steer mounts are gravity-fed and make sense if the machine is already on site doing clearing work.
- What does a 6" capacity really mean?
- The largest branch diameter the machine will take in one pass, in straight clean wood. Forked, green or stringy material effectively reduces it. If most of what you clear is at the top of a machine's rating, buy the next size up.
